Avs end up picking 1st (OTT) If your gonna dream... might as well work out in your favor right?

VGK don't make it past the second round and go for an upgrade at draft.

Again, the idea is to protect and grow with the Seattle draft at the end of the year. Avs protect 7F, 3D and 1G.

Forwards Protected = Landy, Mac, Rants, Jost, Kerfoot, Nylander and (Kamenev or Compher depends on production).

Forwards Exposed = Calvert, Ghetto, and Toninato (with qualifying offer)

D Protected = Girard, Zads, and the Condor

Exposed = Cole and Lindholm (with qualifying offer)

Goal = Protect Gru and Expose Varly

No one else should meet the requirements for the draft and is protected.

I figure Seattle will pick Varly so they can blame any failure of their season on him being injured. Or, he can be the hero like Flury in Vegas.

    No way Zadorov gets 5.5 million when Noah Hanafin just got under 5 million 6 years who is the better player.

    And Kerfoot is not touching 4.25 million. he wont repeat his lucky rookie season and his absurd high 25% shooting. I dont think the Avs will resign Varly. They cant rely on him which is why they got Grubauer to be the #1. And Franz will more than likely be the backup after he proves himself on NA ice after dominating the KHL.

    I could see the Avs trying to trade Erik Johnson as his contract is scary with 4 more years and he always winds up on the IR by the end of the year and keep Barrie.

    IF we get hughes he will be on the 2nd line as Nylander is a pretty good center who can win draws. THat would be a nice looking 2nd line Jost / Nylander / Hughes

    As for Nylander there will be no OS for him as the Avs cant afford to give away draft picks right now. We dont really have any top end Forward depth.. We need as many chances in the draft to select a stud or use them for a trade up. I predict the Avs will miss the playoffs this upcoming season so no reason to give up an unprotected lottery pick in this draft. Now if they want to trade us Nylander for say Barrie or Johnson I would be all for it.
