Description

I think this is an undersell on Pacioretty, but Hagg and Laberge are decent players and the swap of picks in 2020 could put the Habs in a good position for what should be a big draft. Also leaves the Flyers in a cap position to make a few big deadline moves.

If Pacioretty delivers this year and re-signs with Philly, it's a big win for them.

You might not NEED him, but with $10M of cap and a good chance to win the Metro division, why not load up? The cost is minimal. What are the chances of Hagg, Laberge or a late first rounder (matched by what should be an early second rounder) being important contributors to a 2- or 3-year run at the top of the East? Not huge. What are the odds that a proven sniper helping win the division and score a few GWGs in the playoffs? Pretty good.
