Description

Howard to Philly, a team that could compete but doesn't want to commit long term to a goalie because Hart is on the way. Neuvirth is included because one would assume Philly wouldn't want three NHL caliber goalies (also eases salary constraints). Lyon will be passed over for Hart and is a bit of a wildcard for Detroit to try and develop. Ratcliffe is the prize for Detroit (also why draft picks are minimal). Buying out Ericsson isn't necessary, but it creates cap space to use to use to facilitate a trade later (and pick up more assets by doing so) and creates a roster space on an otherwise immovable set of contracts for D.

Philly has already been disappointed by a detroit goalie last year cant see them trying for it again. Honesty i like Howard but how much better is he than what they have already. Maybe at the trade deadline or if a contender looses there starter to injury early on we get an opportunity to move him.

Fair enough, I think Howard is a better goalie than Mrazek, we just never play well in front of him (which obviously harms his trade value). This could end up being more of a deadline scenario, you're right
