I could see Leafs bring in Zetterberg to give him a cup run if he only had one year left on his contract. As he has 3 he simply wouldn't fit, despite the retention, going forward!

Zetterberg is absolutely going nowhere, We're not retaining on 3 players. When has Holland ever done that. We don't know yet if Z is even playing this year. So it's premature to deal him at the TDL.

This is his last year; if he doesn’t retire then he’ll for sure go on LTIR.

While I don’t think it happens either; the idea has grown on me. It would depend on if Z wants the trade or not. This is his last year for sure, so why not let him compete for a cup and get us a couple more prospects too boot.

That's fine as long as he wants a final chance at another cup, But he made it pretty clear that it wasn't the case. And he wants to finish his career out in Detroit. Any ways we're not retaining half on him no matter what happens.
