That Brandon Sutter trade is an impossible one. Not because the value wasn't there, it is somewhat even. But the Hawks aren't getting rid of Sharp because they don't want him - they are doing it out of necessity. They need to shed salary. It's an impossibilty they would take back Sutter, who makes EVEN MORE than Sharp does! To get Sharp, you need to send back picks and prospects.

Sutter makes 2.6 less than Sharp 5.9-3.3=2.6. You obviously failed math! I dont think Hawks make that deal but it kind of makes sense fof them. They get a younger center to replace losing both vermette and richards. They get a young, cheap winger. Two players worth around 4.5 million to replace one who makes 5.9. So you get an extra player plus 1.4 of cap space.
