You might get Brassard for Patches straight up but just forget the rest! It's laughable!

Why are Montreal fans so obsessed with getting Maatta and Brassard? It doesn't make sense.

Maatta isn't going to be the savior to fix their defense. He's a solid but not spectacular second pairing guy who is unlikely to be more than that because of his lack of speed. It also makes no sense for the Pens to give him up because they completely lack a prospect pool at defense. The Pens would be left with Schlemko, Jack Johnson, and Jaime Oleksiak. Why would they want that?

Brassard makes no sense because he's on an expiring deal. His small cap hit and good production makes him an ideal rental for a playoff team with limited cap space. That's not what the Habs are. This team is not going to be good next season. And if they want Brassard, they can sign him in the offseason.

Furthermore, this is too much for Pacioretty, who should not be worth much more than Brassard in the trade market. Brassard was more productive last season, plays a more valuable position, is also on an expiring contract, and is cheaper.

Not sure after coming off a down season and injury! Value low at the moment and Montreal situation doesn't help improve his value!

Don’t think Montreal being bad helps that trade. Why would they want brassard if they’re bad?
