Description
just resigning Oleksiak and signing Duclair.
Lots of interchangeable choices with the bottom left wing depending on sullivans preferences. Also gives replacements if there is trades from current forward group.

Sorry but no fireworks for the fourth.

it wouldn't take time from sprong, it might cut into ZAR play time in this example, and it wouldn't change the playing time for simon(when everyone is healthy even without Duclair I have him as the 13th forward). those three are cheaper money wise but also even less NHL experience to know if you can rely on them or not. Personally I liked what I saw from ZAR last year but I am not certain he will work out great as the 3rd line LW or not, Duclair is an insurance policy who should not be expensive(if he wants any more than I projected here I would not want the pens to sign him)

if you disagree with the move simply because of Duclair its understandable but every team has extra players, no matter what you are gonna have "signed guys" not playing or taking time from each other. Somebody will be the 13 forward, and have to step in at some point.

did you see what he signed for 650000. you way over paid him. yes every team has extra forwards, why sign one that is not as good s ones we have, take a roster spot and use cap the pens dont have on a waste of space player.

I honestly originally had him at 950k but i have tended to be under the salary of guys by a significant amount so decided to raise it to above his salary last year. Personally I would think he would be better than simon but i haven't seen a lot of Duclair personally but i know he was linked with the pens by some other people. Apparently a lot of teams wanted him on a two-way deal but the jackets were the only one who offered him a one way contract. A two-way contract for him would make more sense since he would be more of an extra forward anyway.
