IF the Canadiens traded for ROR... trying to offer similar value to STL trade (A top prospect almost NHL ready, 2 roster players (but with bad contracts), a first and a second).

leaves $7M space - If you cut the team down to 23, still have $8M in cap space, less: $1M for retained salary from Buffalo trade.

And i don't understand the Peca contract logic... RFA signings are just round estimates

Please read the description before making such comments

I am basically trying to argue that the Canadiens MIGHT have been able to offer a similar package, and if they had succeeded in convincing Buffalo to trade ROR intra-division then what would the roster look like.
I hope that clarifies your misunderstanding.
