Description

Carolina gets two young, roster players & a 1st round pick, all while shedding almost $4M in salary cap that they can use on their young kids to a contract extension following this upcoming season. Carolina gets a young, physical, depth forward in Ritchie. He instantly makes Carolina a beefier team than they were last season. Devin Shore is a middle-6 forward that has put up 30+ points in each of the last two seasons, while playing mainly 4th line minutes. Put him on the wing of your 2nd or 3rd line and he could very well be a 45+ point player. Carolina also gets an additional 1st round pick next draft.

I don't think there would need to be any salary retained in this deal. Flyers get a center with more offensive ability for only 3.5 mil this year.

I mean, that would be the dream, but with how bad of a year Spezza had last season, I could definitely see how teams would be hesitant to take on the full $7.5M of his contract, even for just 1 year.
