Why would we just give away Fabbri when 1) he'll be cheap this year 2) he might contribute to the top 6 if he recovers or 3) he could be used to sweeten a trade to get a legit top 6 talent.

I agree. And edmundsons contract is off and schmaltz will not make 1.8 mil. I can’t see jaskin getting 3 years. If Brodziak wants 2.5 he can walk somewhere else, he did have a great season but he is still just a fourth line player.

Maybe we just hold onto Fabbri and let him get acclimated to the lineup again? Or maybe use him as trade bait for Patches.

Criticisms:

• Schmaltz cap is more in the 1m range
• Edmundson cap is between 3-4m x 3-4 years
• Unless the Blues trade Allen, I can not imagine a scenario where Hutton will sign with the Blues. It would be ideal, but he has said publicly that he is looking for a #1 position. That being said, if the Blues trade Allen, Hutton will get the 2.5m plus a little more. Probably in the 3m range.
• Jaskin will get 1-2 years.
• I believe MTL and Fabbri are a good fit, and the value that you have given him is appropriate, but I think Doug will roll the dice on Fabbri this year, unless he is packaged as part of a bigger deal. He will have a low cap hit with a potentially high reward. I’m in the trade Fabbri camp, that guy is one knee injury away from needing a wheelchair.
• Personally, I am a fan of Gunnarsson. I don’t think he will be bought out. He is a solid shut-down defenseman with a reasonable cap.
