O my gosh people stop throwing Buraovsky away for nothing! The kid is a young top6 player! You're trading him away for a 3rd!? You're seriously keeping Orpik over him?! You guys are nuts.

He's not a top-6 player. He has yet to break 40 points despite being given plenty of chances, and is extremely injury-prone. Caps have plenty of forward prospects who are ready to step up, but no defensive prospects who are NHL-ready.

You could just not resign Beagle, move Boyd to 4C and NOT TRADE BURRA FOR NOTHING! And still have cap space.

He would have had 45 points 2 seasons ago if he wasn't hurt. He is still only 23. Has all the skills to be top 6 player. His underlying numbers are fantastic. He's going to tear it up this season.

That would make the team worse. Beagle as 4C/top PK is more valuable to the Caps than Burra on the 3rd. And Burra isn't being traded for nothing.

All the skills except being able to score on open shots. He hasn't lived up to the hype and isn't worth $3M. If he's still with the Caps, we'll see another 30-40 point season.

He has certainly lived up to the hype: fast, highly skilled, fantastic vision that creates scoring chances. Taking that every day of the week for $3M. He'll hit 50+ point this season if he stays healthy, which it sounds like he will. Said 2 injuries were avoidable if the gloves had better protection so he's talking to CCM about that. Also seeing a sports psychologist to help with the consistency issues.

Are we forgetting how well Burakovsky played in the playoffs after he was scratched game 6 in Tampa? The guy has tons of skill and like someone else already stated he would have been on pace for about 45 points had he not been hurt during the 2016-2017 season. He's 23 years old and he's been one of the best players in that draft class so far. You have to give him time to develop. And even if you want to move him he's worth much more than a 3rd.

A 2018 3rd round pick for a player that would *at least* return a first rounder plus.... is trading him away for nothing.

You're also wrong about your first point. Not having Burakovsky limits the scoring depth immensely. It puts pressure on Stephenson to be something he's not (a scoring winger) instead of a playmaker. And if there is ever an injury in the top 6, there is no natural fill in.

Beagle's role can be filled by Stephenson, or my preferred option Boyd. Mostly because i like Chandler's skillset on the wing and his ability to use his speed and passing from up the boards.

name 3 prospects the caps have ready to replace bura right now......hes 23 years old..... thats such a terrible trade.

orpik is so bad idk why you keep him at 5.5million you can easily trade him and get out of cap hell......djoo and bowey can fill in the bottom pairing

No one would give a 1st rounder for Burra. He's a 3rd line, MAYBE 2nd line forward. All of you are greatly overstating his ability.

And the Caps have no one who can manage what Beagle does on faceoffs, defense, and PK.

Stephenson, Gersich, and Boyd. Or put one of them on the 4th and bump DSP up.

Orpik is overpaid, true. If the Caps could trade him and replace him with a cheaper option, I'd be fine with that. But Bowey clearly showed this season that he's not ready to be a fulltime NHLer.

Stephenson isn't a prospect he was a full time nhler......so wrong

gersch is the same age and come from college and bura played over him and boyd is a center not a winger.......so by replace you mean downgrade......everyone you named is a bottom 6 / 4th line player maybe 3rd liner potential bura has top 6 potential and they are all the same age and bura have 3 seasons under his belt already also

when paired with orlov bowey looked amazing its orpik and his chemistry that was terrible mainly bc oroik has terrible positioning and is slow
