Description
A run down on what could have transpired over the years, rather than the mess that has become of this historic franchise. Lets start in 2010.

2010:
Ken Holland is promoted into the upper office and Steve Yzerman is named the new general manager.

2010 Draft:
Detroit most likely still selects Riley Sheahan, missing out on Evgeny Kuznetsov just 5 picks after.

2010 Offseason:
No changes.

2011 Draft:
Detroit picks Nikita Kucherov in the 2nd round with the 48th pick (original 58th pick.)

2011 Offseason:
No changes.

2012 Season:
Originally, Detroit was rumored to be in the hunt for Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash. In this universe, Yzerman gets the deal done and trades Filpula, Tatar and a 2013 1st round draft pick for Nash.

2012 Playoffs:
With Nash's added elite scoring, Detroit gets past Nashville in the first round and makes it all the way to the WCF, losing to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions LA Kings.

2012 Draft:
Detroit never trades for Kyle Quincey, retiring their 19th overall pick which is used to pick G Andrei Vasilevskiy.

2012 Offseason:
Detroit still signs F Damien Brunner

2013 Playoffs:
With an elite lineup of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Nash, Brunner, and the emergence of young forward Gustav Nyqvist, Detroit never loses a 3-1 series lead against the Blackhawks. Considering the Blackhawks went on to win the cup, Detroit takes their place and win the Stanley Cup in 2013.

2013 Draft:
With the Nash trade, Detroit loses their first round pick (Anthony Mantha) and he gets drafted to the Blue Jackets instead.

Ya thats crazy to think of. Id like to see a breakdown of every team since like 2005 to now and see what teams would be like.

its interesting but the variables are so infinite who knows what happens. the one thing that you mentioned that really doomed them is letting stevie y leave. if you gave me one do over that would be it.
