Heading into the most important offseason in a long time, the Oilers can not afford to off sale high end assets or picks in order for a quick fix. In truth, the NHL is built around draft and development, something the Oilers have struggled at for a long time. Unfortunately they lack young talent in their organization, so the purpose here is to try and get a young skilled offensive player and I believe Ho-Sang should be the target. Something tells me him and Lou will not see eye to eye..
As far as value goes, I do believe Strome has more to offer than Jarnkrok; however, who will be cheaper. Jarnkrok, a healthy scratch in the playoffs might look for a change of scenery and a chance to play more minutes as I believe (correct me if I am mistaken) entered a fourth line in the back half of the preds season.
Kris Russel, a dale tallon type guy through and through. Despite the backlash and hate from analytics folks, I am a big Kris Russel fan for his obvious dedication and effort to do anything to help his team. However, trading him for Pysk allows for a more natural lefty-righty set up and a drop in salary requirements, allowing Edmonton to sign both Vanek, and Grabner at fair market deals for each player respectively.
