Maybe try signing Jumbo Joe with that extra cap space, and get rid of Martin? Also in terms of lines. I don't like two passers in the same line (Nylander + Marner). Marner should be with Matthews. Otherwise Nylander and Marner will just pass it to each other until someone passes it into the net LOL.

Over paid Johnsson and the Goat by roughly a million and the lines need some work but not bad

I agree with the overpay on Goat, but he's providing some interim depth on C for just 2 years. I see Johnsson similar to Connor Brown, and so I almost felt I underpaid him..

Yeah I had a problem with that line too. I like the idea of Jumbo Joe for a season until we have to pay out Marner/Matthews, but thought I'd minimize the moves. Agreed that Martin should be sold for spare sticks to free up his salary. Maybe trade him to a cap floor team (ie- Arizona).

Johnsson has no tenure or production but is far superior to Brown. 800k is enough for him under his current circumstances, same for the Goat. Could pay Gauthier league minimum on a one way and he'd be happy...or trade him to the habs.

Nylander at 6M is paying for potential, no reason to do the same for Johnsson yet.

Just realized I didn't send Horton to LTIR, freeing up even more cap space. Leafs are really set up quite well for the Matthews/Marner contract season.
