Obviously 3 mediocre goalies weren't enough.... Why don't you use tho pieces to get a proper goalies or top 6 winger instead of a third line center on a team decently deep in the center position

OMW, that is a terrible trade for O'Reilly.
Lehner <=> Nuevirth
O'Reilly <= Simmonds, W. + St. Louis 2018 1st round pick
Moulson + 3rd or 4th = Zero
What is = Rubtsov, G. + Hägg, R.
Well that is my take on this trade and I am a Sabres fan. And you are correct it makes no sense for PHI to do this when they have 4 centers already. Maybe Nolan + ? for O'Reilly?

I don't think the Value is far off. Hagg and Rubstov are pretty high end prospects, and O'Reilly's past, negative comments and 7,500,000 cap hit (which is not an over payment but is definitely not a cheap contract) shouldn't earn you more then a top 15 pick + Simmonds + 1 B+ level prospect (Rubstov) and an NHL ready prospect in Hagg

OK, if you think it is fair I will retract my opinion from the Sabres point of view, I would welcome Simmonds, a young defenseman, a centerman prospect and the 1st. IMO Botterill would sell his 1st born to get that return for O'Reilly.

If the sabres dont get full, fair value for ROR they dont move him. No matter what "negative words" he said, hes still sogned for 5 years on a team that is grtting better, and he was still highly productive. Sabres are trading him to improve not to dump him. That said, Simmonds is still a decent return, I just dont see what he does for Buffalo. Like Okposo, by the time the Sabres are legit contenders, how old will these guys be. Thats why i firmly believe if the Sabres are to move ROR it needs to be for a guy in his early 20s or an A+ prospect as the main piece

Really like your line of thinking but GMTD is on the right path. Neuvy doesn't = Lehner (4yr age difference + Neuvy is Mr. Glass). But with your set up, Moulson would be considered a "salary cap dump"...with that rationale the Flyers got a 1st(ish - depending on how much value you give to Schenn) for taking on Lehtera's salary last year. 5m salary would be in the 1st or 2nd rd draft pick territory. So, GMTD is correct that Rubtsov and Haag would be overkill.

Also, I don't see the Flyers adding De Haan as he's a LHD and there's already a log jam with Haag, Morin, Sanheim, Ghost, Provy. Gudas and Myers being the only RHD, I think they'd be more in the sweepstakes for Carlson(unlikely) or a trade for Zaitsev or another mid age RHD.
