Kovalchuk already signed with the Rangers, Isles trade is just bad

The Isle trade is bad but the Blues trade is horrible. You are giving up nothing for a very good #2 defenseman.

When you say "nothing"....do you mean:

1) a 20 goal / 40 point rookie RW on a cheap contract (Brown)
2) a 40 point / +22 defensive LW on a cheap contract (Hyman)
3) a 36 point rookie RD playing 22 minutes per game (Zaitsev)
4) a young scoring winger (Leivo) & defensive center (Gauthier)
5) a 4th round pick

Ok maybe nothing is the wrong term Quantity over quality. You are dumping 7.7 million of cap on the Blues and taking one of the best young defenseman in the league. You also want them to eat salary 550k and take on two RFA's they will need to give raises, if they keep them. So let's say the keep them and sign them to 1 mill contracts the will have given up a defenseman and ate 550k and taken on over 10 million in cap space. And they have not gotten a player of his caliber. Be honest if he played in Toronto and the Blurs came with this trade would you make it?
