I actually don't hate the Price trade typically I see people completely under value him but getting Patrick and Sanheim is nice only thing I would add is maybe an additional first or second round pick. Weber being traded is highly unlikely Montreal is going to have to sit in that but if he were to get traded I can see it being Edmonton. I also appreciate no Tavares as much I want him to be a hab the chances of that happening are highly unlikely. Overall good but probably won't happen
I actually disagree, I think Weber is way more tradeable than price, and here is why:
1. Weber's cap hit is almost $3M less than price. The term on both players is the same, however Weber only actually makes $1M per year during the last 3 years of his contract, making him easily tradable to any low budget team.
2. Weber doesn't have any type of trade clause, Price has a full NMC... if Prices wants a trade he chooses the team it's with, philly might not even be an option for example.
3. Weber was on pace for a better year individually despite playing through an injury in the season opener. I don't get the obsession with Weber having no value. He consistently gets 40-50 pts while shutting down top lines and being a physical presence.
4. Price has declined since his Hart & vezina winning season, he has been outplayed by montreal's back up goalies throughout the year. He should rebound next year, but his value is way lower than it should be.
Lastly, philly has a young goalie prospect for the future, and 3 goalies to plug the hole until he's ready. Why would they trade top picks and prospects while adding $10.5M to the cap? It is a bad trade for them.. would be great for the habs.
