We let him walk. I doubt he signs a 1 or 2 year contract and Vasilevskiy and Sergachev are going to get paid. If we resign McDonagh long term and trade Callahan, we still get screwed by the cap.

I predict Koekkoek gets traded before the draft to recoup some draft picks. We clearly aren't using him and there was interest out there.

I also have this feeling Yzerman will sign McDonagh instead of Stralman in 2 years. It just seems like an Yzerman move....

We would be stupid not to re-sign Stralman. There would be a major hole on the right side and he has been the most consistent defenseman for the last 3 years

He has been consistent but you're not paying him based on what he has done in the past, your paying him for what you project him to do in the future. Paying Stralman 4 million when he's 33,34,35 years old might not work out for us. May have to address the right side through free agency or one of our LHD will have to prove to cooper and bowness they can play the right side.
