Description
Benning has suggested that there won't be a real shakeup in Vancouver until the twins retire. So at the end of the season let them either retire (and offer them jobs within the organization) or trade their rights to another team (acquire picks/ prospects); this deal would only work if a contract extension is attached and if the trading partner is a contender. As great as it was having them here it is time for the team to move on.

2018 Draft:
- Canucks get duped out of a top 3 pick (again!) and end up selecting an offensive defencemen in Adam Boqvist
- After picking early in the first round JB and Co. start working the phones and try to find suitable trading partners for Nilsson and Del Zotto
- Nilsson hasn't worked out in Vancouver so trading him would be ideal and most likely we'll end up retaining salary in that deal
- Del Zotto has played decent in Vancouver and can eat up minutes (he is a victim of too many LD's on this team)
- Upon moving them for picks/ prospects JB and Co. try their best to draft the "right" players
- Conditional: Sedin trade

Re-Sign Phase: (Signings might be a little off)
- Baertschi and Stecher gets the same extension as Sheary
- Granlund gets a similar deal to Baertschi and Stecher
- The Canucks decide to go year to year with Virtanen and Pouliot as they improve (maybe two-year deals?)
- Archibald returns and gets a bit of raise as he provides some much needed grit to this lineup
- Biega returns as a solid 7th defender/ 13th forward with a raise
- Minor league signings (Boucher, Molino, Sautner, Cederholm, Cassels, Stewart)
- ELC's for Gaudette, Lind, Pettersson and maybe a few other unsigned prospects (maybe even Boqvist)

Free Agency:
- Sign college UFA's/ minor league depth
- Hansen comes back on a one-year "prove it" deal
- Anyone with the name "UFA UFA" is a UFA signing (they must be willing to sign a one-year deal ($$$ doesn't matter that much) (preferably no NTC's/ NMC's))

Rest Of The Summer:
- Explore taking on "bad" contracts that are about 3 years in length

Opening Night Lineup:
- The lineup will be as is unless someone earns their spot (let the youngsters thrive in Utica)

- 1st Line: Killer B's back at it again
- 2nd Line: Sutter and Co. embrace a more "offensive" role as opposed to being a shutdown line (helping their trade value)
- 3rd Line: Another "offensive" line
- 4th Line: Shutdown line

- 1st Pairing: Current first pairing returns
- 2nd Pairing: Hutton is paired with Tanev so that he can learn from him
- 3rd Pairing: Pouliot and Stecher get paired together

- Starting Goalie: Markstrom continues his quest to prove he can be a starting goalie
- Backup Goalie: Someone who can challenge Markstrom

Trade Deadline:
- Since the draft is in Vancouver load up with picks and maybe a few replacement players on expiring contracts (waiver wire?) while the other spots are filled by youth from Utica
- Explore trading players like Eriksson, Sutter, Hansen, Gagner, "UFA UFA" x4, Edler, Tanev, Biega, Markstrom

Main Objective For The Season:
- Tank at all costs

I love the analysis. Few things. Juolvei and Demko make lineup over UFA UFA and Hutton. (Don't trade though). I would only resign Biega if he's ok with a 2-way deal.

Sutter is not offensive. He's could center a shutdown line of him, Gaunce and Archibald. Hansen is crap. Don't resign him. Hopefully Goldobin can make the Nhl full time along with Gaudette making the lines.

Thanks. I didn't want to add any rookies like Juolevi and Demko to the lineup just yet because I rather have them thrive and ripen in the AHL. But I would be open to calling them up after the trade deadline once players on expiring contracts have been moved. Can't do much about Bulldog now that he has already been re-signed. As much as Sutter has been a great shutdown center for us I think he might be able to adapt to a more two-way game and chip in 20 goals (maybe 25 if we're lucky and he stays healthy); but I see the point that you are making. I think Hansen was pretty good here in Vancouver; although this hasn't been the case for him in San Jose I think he might be able to return to his old form in a Canuck jersey. Personally I'm kind of iffy on Goldy; he seems to have potential to be a dynamic offensive player but I think that the fact that he is currently a defensive liability that is holding him back. Gaudette like Juolevi and Demko would probably benefit from some seasoning in the AHL.
