Nash got a 1st a prospect and a roster player and his best years are behind him. If you want Mcdonagh who's a top 2 D man who's only 28 you're going to pay a big price.

Leafs don't need McDonagh. He's a left shot which Leafs have coming out of their arse. I like having Rielly, Gardiner, Dermott, Borgman. So sure keep McDonagh, trade him somewhere else, doesn't make a difference to me.

I've never traded them for elite players. I include them in packages for good players, but not straight up or even as the main focus in the trade. I don't see how I overvalued them. Carrick was a throw in for minimal value and a defence spot replacement (not McDonagh replacement just a replacemt for the position)
