Habs will need more than that if they are to retain 3 million on Ryan's contract for that long. Thats the problem with Ryan, there are 4 more seasons for a team to retain salary on that silly contract. That said, in a scenario like this it wouldn't have to be TB that makes up the difference - maybe Ottawa sends a great pick or top prospect to Montreal.

So Montreal eats 3mil of salary for a whatever dman and some late picks so a team in there division can be awesome now and a team in tbeir division can be awesome in a few years from now. No i think they pass. Can we get a few more overly complicated karlsson trades please.
