Plekanec takes tons of draws, winning 5% more than he loses (52.5/47.5) and is somehow a plus three, playing a defensive role on a terrible Cdns team that has -36 goal differential.
Plekanec has good possession numbers, above 50% Corsi and Fenwick, playing on a terrible Cdns team that has -36 GD and demoralized by losing (currently 38 losses if you include overtime Ls).
He is used for 58+% D zone starts, less than 42% O zone starts.
Rychel nor Valiev would ever had gotten to play in T.O. Maybe Valiev makes it in MTL someday.
As I mentioned in a couple of my armchair teams, that extra 2nd round pick had to be burning a hole in Lou's pocket, especially since a second gets you an immediate upgrade at a position of need.

pretty sure a ton of leafs fans and even habs were saying he's worth no more then a 3rd pick. some even said 7th. now he gets traded to Toronto of all places and all of a sudden he's an amazing player. i know for a fact that Pleky is an amazing player though, but leafs gave up way to much. hey rychel is only 23. if he doesnt make the nhl, thats fine, he helps our ahl team. valiev will prob end the season in a habs jersey. he's benns replacement, with more speed and younger. and that 2nd rd pick really helps us a lot. considering Trevor Timmins drafting record, and the fact that we have four 2nd rd picks in this upcoming draft, thats excellent for a retooling team. some of those picks might even be packaged to move up to the 1st rd. i think in the short run, leafs get a very good player, whom the coach will love, and he can shut down guys like stamkos and tavares. wish him all the best though. pretty sure he'll come back to mtl in the offseason
