Ur not getting rid of seabrook. Ur definitely not getting a pick for him. Try sending him and your first to a team going into a rebuild and maybe you’ll get away without retaining salary

This doesn't address any of the Hawks needs, and Seabrook @ 4.875 could fetch a hell of a lot more than a 4th round pick.

Hawks need experienced defensive forwards that can kill penalties and win draws. The Hawks also need experienced #4-5 defenseman that can play 18-20 minutes a night...

I think James van Riemsdyk would be a good signing tho.

Seabrook at 4.875 would bring back a first round pick ++..... Seabrook is ideal for a young team looking to win now.. Outside of the UFA market you're not going to find much better than Seabrook... Teams generally don't shop their #3-4 defensemen, and if they to the price is really high.

I forgot to add in Henri Jokiharju here so that fills in that #4-5 Defenseman need. I feel this is good return for this horrific contract Seabrook is on with his decline. Getting ANY pick for his contract is good and retaining part of his contract is most likely going to happen. I do agree on experienced defensive forwards but we are also really trying to get younger right now so going all in on Ryan Murray and JVR might be the right move for now.

my bad I didn’t see the retained salary, still paying a 32yr old declining player $5mil a year until 2024 is going to stop almost any team from give up much, a 4th is fair IMO I should’ve read that the first time

Well, that's if Jokiharju makes the team....I think he has a shot but the Hawks still need a guy(s) like Thomas Hickey, Dan Hamhius or perhaps even Trevor van Riemsdyk.. That would really improve the defense.. I mean the Hawks lack of experience on the blue line this season has really showed.... The Hawks regularly played 5 defensemen this season with a combined 150 NHL games experience... So the Hawks actually need some experience back there.... The only guys with any NHL experience were Keith, Seabrook & Murphy..... So something is going to need to change there.

Also, the Hawks defensive play at forward has also been horrendous.. Hawks can fix that by going out and singing Vermette & Bozak or perhaps trading for Kruger - you know - guys of that mold would really help the Hawks...

They don't have to be those exact players but players that fit that mold...

Also, I'm almost certain Bowman will sign Vermette, Bozak and James van Riemsdyk because those guys are what the Hawks need and they would fit this team like a glove.. It's a perfect match.

I disagree, Seabrook has immense value on and off the ice to certain teams that are young and ready to contend - teams like Toronto, Edmonton.

Seabrook would bring back a roster player (3rd line defensive forward) + a prospect + a pick.

4.875 is not bad at all for a top 4.... What top 4's are signed for less than that? if I'm sure there are a few but none of them are for sale.

I mean teams could always go out and sign Carlson who has never won anything for 6.5 per on a 6-7 year contract... He may demand even more than that.

I guess Mike Green is another option but he's not defensively as good as Seabrook, but he will cost at least 5 per..

Seabrook at 4.875 is market value.

It may be market value right now but I won’t be in 2024. That’s what makes it a bad contract. You overvalue your players.
