That's not what he said. He said Brown won't be traded, and I agree with him.

Well 1st to clarify, no I'm not high... 2nd at this point... yes. We may an abundance of guys at wing but the same can be said of McDonagh. Also if you bring in a guy like McDonagh you're guaranteeing you lose Gardiner and at this point I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Yes he makes brain farts but with Hainsey he's been really solid and I'd like him to finish the year with him personally.... Brown is also a hometown kid. He wants to win here. He's always dreamed of winning here, he'll do anything to stay and win here so why would we give that up for an American defenceman that may or may not have chemistry with our lineup?? ASSET MANAGEMENT!!!

People need to realize the difference between those statements... Leafs aren't trading Brown for another LHD which they have a plethora of already. It's trading a strength for a strength, trade strength for weakness. Like center depth, or RHD depth.

And that Gardiner trade was SHOCKING!!! Are you high??? Not nearly enough.
Also I'd keep Brown and Gardiner over Kyrou and McDonagh any day!

Who cares what country hes from Matthews is american too.

And Brown is a middle six forward while Mcdonagh is a #1 dman this shouldnt even be a discussion from the leafs point of view

I know exactly who McDonagh is. I understand that Gardiner is a UFA but it also doesn't mean Leafs can't resign him. So I'll phrase it like this. I'll take Rielly and Dermott over McDonagh cause we can't afford all 3 let alone 4 (including Gardiner)

Matthews was also drafted by the Leafs, completely different situation.

Brown is a top 6 forward and has played top line minutes. McDonagh is good but he would be 2nd pairing behind Rielly.

This has also gotten VERY off topic. I never said I don't like McDonagh, I actually really really like McDonagh, but it doesn't change the fact the Leafs still aren't trading Brown.

McDonagh is up the same time as Gardiner, Leafs fans are complaining cause they think we can't sign Gardiner back and you wanna add McDonagh instead? If we can't afford Gardiner how do you suggest we can afford McDonagh??? It's not thing of want it's what we can afford especially with the big 3 (5 if you include JVR and Gardiner) getting their contracts very soon. And considering Brown and Gardiner we can have for the price McDonagh, yes I'd say they keep Gardiner and Brown.

Trade Gardiner and upgrade with McDonagh, let JVR walk. Its not that hard to fit everyone in

JVR is gone regardless. The temporary problem that really isn't a problem is Marleau. If they are going to spend that kinda money they should address a weekness not a strength. Why sign McDonagh when you have Rielly and Dermott (and Gardiner) when you can have Zaitsev, Lilegren (and potentially Carlson) and have a top 6 of:
Rielly-Carlson
Gardiner-Lilegren
Dermott-Zaitsev

Carlson is gonna get way overpaid and I dont think hes worth it unlike mcdonagh. This is a better and cheaper top 6:

McDonagh-Dermott
Rielly-Zaitsev
Borgman-Liljegren

Dude stop pushing McD on us, if he's so great why are you so desperate to get rid of him???

Also yeah maybe we'd overpay a bit but at least we'd fill a weakness not a strength. Also yeah sure of course you think it's way overpayment cause you're pushing McD down our throats when we don't want or need him. We'll take Shatts or B Smith though.

McD would be 2nd pairing behind Rielly, we went through this.
