Description

This Trade may be a bit of a long shot. Even if it isn't made they are still fine. All the Chicago fans who think the season or their chances are over are overreacting to some minor hiccups. They are 11 points back of 1st in the best division in hockey with 2 games in hand. They are 7 back of St. Louis for third with 4 games in hand. The team is not going to steam roll through the central and regular season especially with the starting goalie out; however, if they get to the dance anything can happen including a cup run.... lets remember that the Preds made the final last year as an 8 seed in the west. The Kings won the cup in 2012 as an 8 seed. All that needs to happen is the team needs to get hot at the right time. Playoff hockey is a completely different beast and the Hawks have made changes to address issues from last year. If you have no faith in the team you are not a fan, don't give me the "I'm just realistic" because this team is good, and they have a chance.
Also they have a lot of games (13) left within the division. This gives them a lot of room to make up points, they have also been competitive within the division.

I don't like Kane either and its just a more for fun. I don't know if they will even make a move that is big I think they just need a defensemen to add some strength in the back end. I just happened to hear that the asking price for Kane is a prospect (hayden) and a first round pick. The other picks are because Chicago can't deplete their draft picks too much next year so needed to recoup a pick themselves.

The team's been inconsistent. It's easy to make this post after beating a terrible Ottawa team 8-2 just like it's easy to make a post making big changes when they lose two in a row. This team has considerably less chemistry than the past two seasons and both those seasons were first round exits. I am going to give you the "I'm just realistic". The hawks were pretty good against the predators in the regular season last year and then got swept embarrassingly. I obviously hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see Toews and Kane get more rings, but I just don't see it. On paper, this looks like one of the better teams in the league, but on ice they're too inconsistent.
