Your getting at top 4 puck moving prospect, a top 6 future winger, and Spezza can slide in wherever in your lineup. Nobody is sure on the health of Letang so that is going to bring his value down. Also you dump Reaves and that 1st is gonna be 25-31 range

An unproven D prospect that won’t help the pens now, A winger who may never return to the NHL, and an overpaid and old player, even though Spezza is still good, for a top 10 defensemen when at best plus a first.

Pens aren’t rebuilding by trading Letang, they are trying to get foward depth.

As a Stars fan, I wouldn't want to do that trade. Yeah, Letang is good, but he would probably end up playing in the 2nd pair, Klingberg's position as their 1st RHD is unquestionable right now, he is in Norris race.

Dallas also have to make a new contract to Seguin pretty soon, which will take about $9M bucks per season. Alongside that, they need to resign Faksa's, Lindell's, Honka's, Janmark's and probably Spezza's contracts soon, and over $7M bucks that Letang brings with him in the salary cap makes it quite impossible.

Although Letang makes any team better, in my opinion, Dallas has to put that money that his contract would take on to something else - resigning their important parts for future.

If the salary cap rises to over 83 million or so, then I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Doubt that Letang would waive his M-NTC for Dallas though.

Stars don't do this - because Letang isn't a 1D on our roster, and Nill wont abandon Nuke this early, or dump Honka at 22.

I see what youre thinking is, but, I don't believe Letang is the answer. Nor do I think we really to give up that much for a position we aren't that needy.
