Kovalchuk being heavily underpaid. Should be getting around what Spezza/Radulov have at minimum. Likely he would want to join Radulov though you're right

Or honestly who knows. I just assumed someone who walked on ~10.5m a year for 10 years would expect more than 4.5m for 2

You're probably right. With salary cap being close to 82M it is possible to sign him for 6M/1year deal.
