------See my Dallas post for other side of trade----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dallas does not give any current 1st line or 2nd line forwards, nor does it give a 1st round draft pick, because of the young players included in the deal. Makes Dallas an immediate contender, and Ottawa gets value for the medium future while keeping their current cap hit low. Retained salary on Erik Karlsson's contract is to permit Dallas to stay Cap compliant for the 2018-19 season.
Martin Hanzal moved to LW as he is now slower. At LW, he could be able to score at least 10 goals on an all "Czecho-Slovakian" 3rd line ;-) And if this season is again a dud for Hanzal, next summer Ottawa can always buy out the last year of his contract.-------------------------------For the Stone and Ceci contracts, I just put a really approximate number as Ottawa is not in a max cap situation, and I am certain that Ottawa will be re-signing both these players before next season starts.
