If I'm Hextall I'm not moving him unless a young scoring LW is coming back and a pick depending on the talent level of the winger. With no players coming back I'd need a 1st and a top 5 organizational prospect. Honestly I feel they will hold on to him and try to negotiate an extension though. Depending on where they are at the trade deadline and how much he is asking in negotiations, trade him to a contender for a premium where we will get the most value.

That seems reasonable, especially that part about keeping him and trying to re-sign him after next year. I'm not sure I understand the rumblings about the Flyers getting rid of Simmonds. He seems like a vet that every hockey club would want - skilled, lots of intangibles, leadership, and engaged in the community off the ice.

I don't think it is wanting to get rid of him it's more so term and money he may be seeking. He has been underpaid for years now and is an absolute warrior that any team would love to have. That being said if he wants 6 years / $6 mil per that would be a tough pill to swallow for a soon to be 30 year old power winger (31 when the contract starts). I don't want to see him go but that could be a potentially crippling contract half way through.
