For the Jets trade, Ottawa gets an upgrade for their 2RD, as well as their stop-gap goalie, while taking on a higher paid utility winger that has a higher ceiling. For Winnipeg, they take downgrades for 3RD and 3/4LW, but get $5.225M in cap relief (assuming Ceci gets 4x4M, which is, imo, the max he would get) to help them potentially retain Stastny while dealing with all their RFAs, as Comrie can be promoted to back-up. Smith could also potentially be an attractive piece to be easily flipped for a pick at any point if they are looking to shed additional cap for the following off-season's signings.
