First of all, I have to say that im so confused what vegas is doing. Their team looks garbage on paper and they are one win away from cup final. Everything is possible. And this team looks pretty good also on paper and it's really possible to build this. I think this team is a contender as soon as next season and keeps only getting better when young guys develop more. Blackhawks trade up to #5 in the draft to get Hughes in 2018 nhl draft. Then they package their 2nd first rounder to get Faulk and Skinner who reportedly are available. Panthers are reportedly trying to aqcuire an experienced d man who brings leadership and they could get Murphy pretty cheap. Then hawks acquire two veteran centermen with short term who can help toews' responsibility especially on PK and WIN faceoffs. That gives Toews more offensive role and he could produce 60-75 points with Saad and Skinner who is a great finisher. I am also high on Hayden and I think he is exactly what 8 and 88 need. A guy who goes to the net and has size, grit and can win board battles and yet has good skills. I think hayds is a better version of Hartman. These moves won't prevent usto re-sign schmaltz and our other young guys to an extension because they are short term. I also think Jokiharju and Hughes could be ready to play in NHL before playoffs and they will be regular players in the 19-20 season at least. Rutta's contract is up in summer 19 and Jokiharju takes his spot then. What i'm also very excited about is the play of Forsling in the AHL playoffs. Reliable in his own end, very good skating ability and a very good first pass and cap control. He could be a similar guy to Hammer for us in the very near future but better offensively. And think about our defense going forward if there is a compliance buyout during next lock out. We would buy out seabs and then our D could look like : Hughes - Jokiharju, Keith - Faulk, Forsling - Mitchell. That is a DYNAMIC defense!
