Description
Just trying something out. I hesitated to add that 2nd round pick there, mainly because I'm very unsure what the market value is for Mcleod (how much does NJD value him?) or for Gallagher (I feel like it's relatively high, comparing to recent trades for players inferior to him).

Feel free to correct me on my values, but at the end of the day, I'm proposing Gallagher+ for Mcleod+. Feel free to tweak the plus' as you please.

Yeah, it's definitely a shot to the heart of MTL. But I think it's what we need: to admit we failed, and establish a new 5-yr plan. We would immediately become a terrible team without Gallagher, but I think McLeod, Galchenyuk, Drouin, old man Weber and old man Price can be an interesting playoff berth in the future. Don't forget about matured Juulsen, Mete, Hudon, Lehkonen, Scherbak, as well as current prospects like Ikonen, Poehling, Evans, Brook, ... Could be interesting.

Better than more of the same.

Its funny you're not mentioning Pacioretty smile He's the one we shoud trade. Yeah we failed, but Gallagher should be part of that future. That's my thought.

I try to keep the publicized trades free of controversy. I 100% believe he should have been traded at TDL, and now should be traded before the draft. But I personally think a medium term and cheap asset in Gallagher could probably net us a better return. There's nobody untouchable on my team if it means potentially netting a future #1C. I'm not sure McLeod will become that (projected more as a 2C), but I'm willing to take a chance.

Pacioretty will not net us a future #1C, unless there's a playoff team with great NHL-ready center depth that needs an extra push AND has that kind of player to spare. Right now, I'm not seeing any of that. The closest I see now is NJD.
