The Brassard trade set the bar for the asking price on AA. The first round pick is mandatory, and honestly that might be all it takes, but Bittner is a small addition.
Realistically, if the Leafs or any team wanted Franson, they would’ve claimed him off waivers, instead of paying for him later. But circumstances may have changed because it’s the trade deadline, and a team like the Leafs may want a 6th-7th RHD. A 5th isn’t too much to ask for IMO.
Seabrook most likely isn’t going anywhere especially without salary retention. However, he WAS linked to Vancouver in the offseason. Now obviously, this isn’t the offseason, and Vancouver is in no position to be buyers like they probably thought they were 6 months ago. Anyways, the trade. Gudbranson I’m pretty sure was rumored to go to a team like the Leafs, but nothing ever came together. Yes, they signed him to an extension. Yes, that probably means they are looking to hold on to him for the time being. However, to replace him with Seabrook is probably a downgrade (hence the tanking), and they add young guys like Hartman and Forsling. Also, that 2nd round pick is pretty valuable to Chicago at the moment, but if it means getting rid of Seabrook in a deal, I’m okay with moving it.
Nobody is taking on Seabrook contract, period. He is past his prime and he has several years at 6 plus. NO THANK YOU.
I understand that, but I think the Hawks could pay a team to take him. I mean, if you take that cap away, he’s a serviceable defenseman. It’s just the cap.
