I'm sometimes surprised at how many times I see Tavares as a FA signing for the Blackhawks. He turns 28 this year-he's not really a young player anymore. More importantly, part of why the Blackhawks are tight on the cap are the long term 10.5M cap hits for Toews & Kane (as well as Keith & Seabrook). I do see complaints from time to time on those two contracts.
So why would the Blackhawks want to tie up a total of $33M in cap hit for three players? It doesn't strike me as a wise move.
