Hindsight is 20/20, but personally living in this city and following this team, there hasn't been a trade I have been satisfied with from the moment it was announced. Blunder after blunder after blunder, it's all garbage. Our drafting is fantastic, but due to meddling ownership and just some stupid decisions by management, this team is currently screwed for the short and long term future. For example, who takes a supposedly unmovable contract in Dion Phaneuf that pays him for 6 more years at the trade deadline for a playoff push? The Ottawa Senators do, and they always will.
This trade was allegedly accepted by both the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators geeral managers at the time (2016 offseason). Unfortunately Senators owner Eugene Melnyk intervened and shot it down so the trade could not be completed. This resulted in Hall being sent to the Devils for Larsson.
