Well every report has stated there aren’t any ongoing contract negotiations between him and the team. Therefore we can assume he isn’t interested in resigning here. Now we could take a gamble and hope it’s a Filip Forsberg situation BUT it’s very clear what’s going to happen here. He knows what’s he’s getting into if he signs a long term deal on a team that’s the oldest in the league and fading, he’s giving up the rest of his career on a basement team. You’d have to think the reason there are no ongoing contract talks is because he doesn’t want a new deal in Pittsburgh.
