Description
Obviously, this never happens. But I think it's an interesting idea that has a logic to it that works. Obviously, the long-term cap of Garland could be a problem for the Leafs, but he should be a lot cheaper to move in the off-season if they want to get rid of his cap compared to trying to get teams to pay for Bertuzzi or Domi now, if they try to get rid of them, and it's better than swapping them for plugs like Mantha since they are getting real, viable NHL players with not only top 6 upside but actual top 6 seasons in the last 3 years.

Your team is obviously losing lots of "toughness", but I don't get the impression it's been doing anything for you anyways. Marchand is a rat, and Boston should been taught a lesson, but they weren't. I think Tocchet can get through to Bertuzzi and Domi, he honestly has major Brind'Amour vibes.

It also sounds like Leafs fans are done with McCabe, the Canucks have enough LD depth that they can have him be the 7d for the playoffs. They obviously bury Reaves, he cannot play, which is effectively 200k retention on Garland. He gets called up in the playoffs when roster sizes and cap hits aren't a thing. If you want him to go in for a game to hurt people.

I guess let me know what you think? who says no?
Transactions
TOR
  1. Beauvillier, Anthony
  2. Garland, Conor
Détails additionnels:
Toronto get two very solid depth wingers who can and have played as top 6. They get rid of a lot of their problems. Timmins is obviously good, but can create further cap problems when back and is effectively payment.
VAN
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler (1 000 000 $ retained)
  2. Domi, Max
  3. McCabe, Jake
  4. Reaves, Ryan
  5. Timmins, Conor
Détails additionnels:
Vancouver gets to swap a winger to the center, add lots of toughness to the third line, gets off Garlands long term cap and has Reaves for a playoff callup if they need a bruiser for some reason, otherwise, it's effectively ~200k in cap retention on Garland that could go down since the player burying amount can go up.

They also get to add a solid RD and a depth LD who is tough and has experience.

Just because you (somehow) post 90 times per day on this site doesn’t mean you’re always right. I’m not sure that the Canucks would do this — they’re giving up the two more offensive players and, also, literally nobody wants Reaves.

Sorry I forgot Reaves from the initial trade. Given how firm you were in declining, I assume that does move the bar enough for. Do you mind explaining? My understanding is these are largely all players Leafs fans want to get rid of other than Timmins.

Garland and Beauvillier are both good players and I get that Leafs don't want Garlands contract for the next two years probably, but I don't think he'd be expensive to move in the off season and if they don't resign Nylander they do want to keep him.

McCabe is a non starter he’s not going anywhere and then it’s still an overpayment can’t see the leafs wanting to move Bert and domi so two lesser forwards sure they aren’t producing much right now but I’m hopeful that turns around

Canucks aren't gonna mess with their group for a bunch of mid/dogsh*t pieces. Maybe a Beauvillier-Bertuzzi swap could work but that's about it.
