2 cap dumps for 1 isn't anything Caps are interested in. They extended TvR at the end of the season so trading him is a long shot.

Armia and Hoffman are just as much terrible Cap Dumps as you seem to think Mantha is yet Mantha for all his career has significantly out-produced Armia and Armia has an extra year. Nothing in that entire pile of crap from Montreal is worth a Top 4 DMan. Honestly WSH probably doesn’t even trade a 3rd for that whole pile of crap.

You seem to forget Kovacevic in this trade.

Mantha is similar to Hoffman (a goal-scorer-only type of player), so getting rid of Mantha’s entire cap hit for Hoffman at 2.25M$ seems worth the deal from a salary cap mgmt perspective..

Then, you get Armia + Kovacevic for TVR. Kovacevic has similar stats and advanced stats than TVR, but is 6 years younger and has a cap hit of 766K$ versus TVR’s 3 M$.

WSH is tight against the cap so they will need to find a way to make room and this one is not costing them much after all.

The thing is, Hoffman being retained 50% versus WSH clearing Mantha’s entire 5.7M$ cap hit is clearly at WSH’s advantage in this deal. Especially since they’re up against the cap
