Very interesting. Seems particularly optimistic and a bit out there, but it definitely changes up the team and gives it a new identity, it might actually work. It really makes the team younger. The only thing I am particularly not a fan of doing, is getting rid of JT Miller, and Zucc, but more so Miller.

Agree on really wanting to keep Zucc and Miller, but it was a "give to get" kinda thing. Trouba and Vatanen are going to cost you a similar impact player.

Staal really ends up a blocker for other prospects to step up into that 3rd D pair.

I would consider the Stepan/AZ deal in its own merit...the other two were ways to less expensively take care of the RD, so that there's eventually money to pay McD. I don't like a long term of Shatty at 6M+.
