ARZ/MTL/CGY

I don't hate it because it's probably close to what we see next year, but why sign guys to play 4th line or bench when we have plenty of guys that can do it already? I really don't like the ARZ deal though but we are going to need a goalie so I get it.

The thinking behind the Arizona deal is like you said, getting a goalie. I've had a few teams with Craig Anderson, Jimmy Howard, etc., but I wanted to throw someone else out there. Plus I think Smith could be a pretty low buy option that Hextall could make given the current situation and the contract situation.

Honestly, this is something that Hextall has done before. He signs players for 4th line roles rather than give younger (and frankly better) players the opportunity to play. If you ask me, Laughton and Weal should have been with the team all year this year, not VDV & PEB and Weise shouldn't have been given 4 years (I'm in the camp who likes the signing of the player himself, just not the term he was given). This is what he does. i do think they should still look at Foo and maybe take a run at Raddysh for depth on the RHD side personally, but who knows if Hexy is still thinking about them.
