Year 1:

Leafs make a BOLD push to get a top end defensemen in Parayko. STL is in a cap bind so they would be strapped. We could always threaten a offer sheet and look to trade instead. We sign Parayko to an extension right away too.

Brown takes a hometown discount and due to his RFA status he doesn’t have a whole lot of firepower (plus he Loves living in Toronto).

Hyman gets a bridge deal to prove his worth.

Expansion Draft:

JVR, Kadri, Bozak, Brown, Komarov, Martin, Rychel, Rielly, Gardiner and Carrick.

We offer them some players we don’t really want as a good deed and to build some good ties, also clears out roster space.

      I don't see why we need to give up three players to protect an already protected player? We offer them players to not take players who are NOT protected. So the list of players you put up as protected in the description are exempt from being picked. Also, I don't see the Parayko deal being a very feasible option, since I'm not sure he'd accept for just a one year deal, and what if he gets offer-sheeted in the offseason with us?

      So originally made this thinking Parayko wasn't exempt and I would have to go 4-4, but realised my mistake, either way they probably take Leivo and then Marincin is buried or kept as 8th Dman - doesn't play a huge role in my AGM. Parayko is going to get low-balled by STL since their cap is tight, I'm sure he would love 10M, PLUS he gets some leverage in negotiating because we paid a lot to get him, we could also offer him an extension right away too

      saw your explanation on the Vegas trade and it's not all that relevant, it would be an interesting play but NJ knows that we need that pick to make that move so they might play hardball with it.
