Duchene is a great thought, however there's two issues. One is his contract and the Blackhawks cap situation. They'd need to make a subsequent move where they trade a core player, and of the D-men Hammer is a top 4 pair with a contract under $5M per year so he'd be the most "tradeable". Trading a core player in order to get Duchene seems like a lateral move in some ways. The 2nd issue is what it takes to get him. Sakic knows that if trades him, the value coming back needs to pay big dividends this season-otherwise he's fired. Hartman, Forsling and a pick aren't going to cut it. I believe the stated return was a top prospect, a top 4 D, another player + a 1st rd pick.
Trading Anisimov is a thought, but I think the Caps would rather try to keep a lot of their team versus taking on Anisimov's contract.
