We’re not trading one of our top prospects for someone who’s playing like a cap dump.

If we’re to get rid of Klingberg, why bring in Petry? Klingberg only wants 1.75 million more and one more year of term compared to what Petry has (Petry’s contract goes to 37, Klingberg’s proposed deal to 38), and he’s playing way better.

Simple solution is, if we don’t want to commit to Klingberg, we sure ain’t committing to Petry.

Also Pag is one of the least trust worthy sources there is, off the top of my head he was wrong about 3 things. He was wrong about Dallas shopping Klingberg earlier this summer (rumours turned down by Dallas), wrong about Chychrun being available for 2 first’s (rumors turned down by Arizona), and that Klingberg has demanded a trade (rumors shut down by Klingberg himself, he only said that he’s unhappy with the contract negotiations).

So Lebrun is wrong too? Also your argument for saying Pag is wrong is essentially saying what he reported last summer is now being reported now? Klingberg situation is the same as Petry in MTL. Was initially reported he didn’t ask for a trade (confirmed by him) now its reported he did. Every insider has repoeted Klingberg wants out and Lebrun and Pag are reporting Dallas is interested in Petry. I tend to believe them. Also price for Chychrun right now is a 1st+ former 1st + other asset which means its 2 first rounders. Wouldn’t be too quick to turn down TFP, he’s been solid in the past.

Chychrun’s ask was reported to be Lundell+Knight+1st, that’s way more than 2 firsts.

Also reporter’s can say whatever they want, what Klingberg himself says is what’s right. All those insiders don’t know him more than himself. He only said he’s unhappy with the negotiations, and that he’d like to stay in Dallas, but the negotiations aren’t going well.

I think if you look at the history of the NHL, players tend to nott pubicly say they want out. Look at Tavares with the Isles, he said he’d never leave and then signed with Toronto. Players have to help themselves too if they want to be traded and rarely will they come out and say I asked for a trade. That wouldn’t help the GM get the value they want for a trade. Agents advise players not to do that all the time. You might not want him out as a fan but don’t be so quick to believe them versus the multiple insiders who talk to agents, execs and GMs accross the league. All im saying bud. That being said, it might not happen either, just proposing what they discussed thats all

It just doesn’t make sense at all. I could continue analyzing it for 100 hours and I still don’t see how it make sense.

If we’re to trade Klingberg for the same return as Petry or we trade one of our best prospects for Petry. I’ll stop cheering for this joke of a team, like completely.

Only thing that makes me think that it won’t happen, is Jim Nill’s activity on trades. Last big trade 7 years ago, and he lost Oleksiak for nothing while he could’ve gotten a 1st from Winnipeg.
