My picks for Russia's 2022 Olympic team. With Evgeni Kuznetsov serving his international suspension, their center depth is pretty poor after Malkin, though a strong performance from Vadim Shipachyov (KHLer) would go a long way. The defensemen are decent in their own end, but I think they will struggle offensively after their top pair of Provorov and Sergachev. The team's wingers and goalies are fantastic, though, and they will have to play up to their potential to cover the holes at center and defense. I could see players like Nikita Zaitsev, Evgenii Dadonov, Nikita Nesterov (KHLer), and many other goalies (Sorokin, Varlamov, and maybe even young Askarov) making the team due to national team history (Zaitsev, Dadonov, Nesterov) and/or competition for the 3rd goalie spot after Vasilevskiy and Bobrovsky, though I think Zaitsev doesn't deserve to sniff this lineup. Let me know what you think.
