1. Seems like the motivation to trade Kuznetsov has softened. TEB mentions that the Caps aren't going to just make a move out of frustration, so I don't think teams are going to offer a package that GMBM would accept.

2. Ovi not signed until after the expansion draft, as expected. There's precedent with the Caps doing this, with Oshie not signing his new contract until after the Vegas expansion draft was done.

3. Team wants to get younger, but could take a peek at Suter if the price is right. Would only make sense if Seattle were to take Dillon in the expansion draft. Fehervary should get regular NHL minutes.

4. Michael Raffl could be an option to sign back with the team as a depth forward. Price is again the biggest factor here, since he fit in pretty well after being acquired at the TDL.

5. Kempny and Malenstyn, who missed the entire 2021 season, should be ready for training camp. Kempny might get a shot at a regular spot in the lineup, but his health and level of play are going to be a question mark.

For sure. Think it just makes the most sense to do so, since he's super capable and has a lower cap hit. If Seattle takes one of Schultz, Jensen, or Dillon, the Caps will be fine.

Honestly, I protect Jensen over TVR, and here’s why.

Losing TVR means we don’t lose anyone who was a regular in our lineup last year. Yes he’s cheap and that makes him an attractive option for Seattle, but if that’s what keeps them from taking a guy like Vanecek, I absolutely sacrifice that.

Jensen showed some really good play for the entirety of the 21 season. Arguably one of our best defensemen. I put him in the top 4, ship Schultz out, and sign/trade for a bottom pair RHD on a cheaper deal.

I doubt that Dillon is the one selected, but if he is, agree that Suter should at least be looked at for a one year deal. I think I prefer just running Orlov Fehervary Kempny, but Suter is a good insurance option to split time with Kempny. Nobody should be taking Fehervary’s ice time. He looked good in 18-19 and deserves a regular spot this year.

Also like adding raffl back if he wants to come back for cheap. We could use him in case of injuries for sure.
