I don't see how Edmonton owes us a favor. If that were the case then I guess the Rangers owe the Canadians a ton for the McDonagh/Gomez trade. There's no such thing in business like this multi million dollar empire. You win some and you lose some. I don't see how the Rangers lost anything for Talbot. I myself was hoping for a little more for him and the fact that Florida was willing to give up Jimmy Hayes for him says we could have done better. However, the trade wasn't a complete loss. The Rangers got 3 draft picks for Talbot and replenished the farm system for a college free agent no one knew about.
As far as your lineup goes why Stalberg? He is just an insurance policy in case Lindberg doesn't work out. He signed a one way SPC so he can't be sent down without clearing waivers. It's the Rangers lineup or another team for Lindberg as he will surely get claimed on waivers. Fast also deserves a better spot on the lineup. He was one of the best Rangers in the playoffs once given a top six spot. He is a righty shot too which is a bit of a problem for the Rangers. This brings me to the point on the trade you proposed with Edmonton. They might just be willing to take a guy like Boyle but if it was Yakapov we wanted I'm sure the Rangers woud either have to throw in a pick or prospect or retain some of Boyle's salary. Yakapov is a right haned shot so I think he would be a nice addition. I just doubt it would be that easy. If they got Yakapov I may try to do this with the linup
Nash-Stepan-Yakapov
Kreider-Brassard-Zuccarello(Fast)
Etem-Hayes-Fast(Zuccarello)
Lindberg-Moore-Miller(Megna)
Stalberg is 13th forward if there is enough money to carry 13 forwards. IDK????
Hopefully the Rangers can get rid of Glass. His $1.45 mil is too much to be a 13th forward and he's holding up a spot that can be had by a younger kid. Zuccarello hasn't played since that horrific injury and I'm not sure he will be himself again. For the time being we will say that he's fine but he played his best hockey against lesser competition when used on the 3rd line. If he were to play against 3rd pair defenseman he may give the Rangers that 3 line depth they had in 13/14. They didn't seem to get that kind of possession from all 4 lines last season. That will need to be repaired if they want a return trip to the finals this season. They also need more right handed shots up front. The reason the PP never works is there's no righty on the left side most of the time. Stepan plays well there when he lines up at LW on the PP but that happens rarely. Having Yakapov, Fast, and Megna on the right wings would give the Rangers a more balanced attack at even strenght and on the PP.
