Kuznetsov being traded leaves open a center position. Connor McMichael could be that guy as early as next season. McMichael, the Caps' 2019 1st round pick, led the Hershey Bears in goals (14) and points (27) in 33 games as an AHL rookie; first rookie to lead the team in scoring since 1990-91. Previous year for the London Knights had 47G 55A 102P in 52 games. Technically, he wasn't even supposed to play for Hershey in the AHL this season due to his contract with the Knights but the OHL didn't have a season. Hershey's HC said McMichael could compete for a spot in the NHL next year.

Kuznetsov trade value I would consider to be a first rounder and a solid prospect, maybe a mid round pick too. Does not have to be a top prospect but should realistically be a guy who could crack the top 9 of any time.

Goalie situation is very complex. Samsonov has potential to be a star, but he's made a lot of stupid mistakes recently. Vanecek is solid, but a work in progress. Do the Capitals protect one and trade the other? If so, which one would you want and what would be the return?

For purpose of not knowing what to do with either, I'll just do Samsonov's current cap hit for 1 year. Also, not worrying about who Seattle takes because it could be a goaltender or Washington entices them to take someone else. I hope it's Dillon who gets taken

EDIT: After Game 2, I REALLY hope Dillon gets taken by Seattle. Carlson's big contract also looks awful, unfortunately going to be stuck with that until it expires
