I remember Trotz doing these kind of things with the top 6 while coaching the Caps and it was frustrating for us also. Wahlstrom and Bellows are sweet. Why is he not playing them more?

Not playing bellows is understandable , but wahlstrom has been a big part of the teams success this season. Wahlstrom lead the team in points in March and has been above average defensively, but he had 2 bad games in a row and trotz called him out in his post game interview and hasn’t played him since

It's funny how he calls both of them out for having bad games but never calls out his "Vets". There have been games where Mayfield will turnover/fail to clear/Ice the puck 7/8/9 times in a given night and he will come back and say how great he is on the PK or some other BS but calls other the rookies who are learning how to play in the NHL. It is mind-boggling but I guess we gotta just live with it, he has managed to turn this Isles team into a contender.

The only thing Mayfield has going for him is that he's 6'5. He is an awful defenseman.

The thing that drives me nuts is that we're past the point where wahlstrom is just some prospect with potential. He's been a vital part of the isles success and one of the main reasons why theyre in 1st place. This is a lot different than bellows situation, wahlstrom has earned the right to be an everyday player, and now trotz is essentially ending his season because of 2 bad games? The zajac/palmieri trade was a waste if wahlstom isn't playing.

No doubt trotz system is good, but he is one of the worst coaches in the league when it comes to lineup decisions. I think its why throughout his career he's only made it past the 2nd rd 2x - he'd have more deep playoff runs if he played his best players.
