This season Detroit got a 2nd round pick for taking on Staal who pkayed in a position where Detroit needed help. Staal's salary was 3.2 million.

If you want Detroit to take on the contract of a player they have no use for then you have to offer more than what we got for a player we had use for.

Make it a 2nd + a 3rd and you might be in with a chance.

Idk about signing Bonino to a 2M AAV contract. Imo that's just too much, It'd have to be something around 1.4 or 1.45 million to make sense because he's good depth at center but not worth 2 million even though he's still a good player no doubt.

Thanks Yzerman. Yeah I am aware of DET's roster. I am not expecting him to be a roster player, good chance he would be waived. There's no way DET would get a 2nd + 3rd though. It would be a simple deal of a 73rd overall)pick for taking on less than $2m in salary. The NYR pick will be a 49th overall.

Yes I think they will in the real world. This was just an idea to clear cap so we could have a run at a legit #1 Dman in free agency.
