Based off Jims recent statements about playing young players It doesnt sound like he is looking to add anyone else to the roster, but IMO this team needs another RHD and another Goalie for the taxi squad.
Biggest issues:
1. Lack of depth on D. Especially on the Right Side, adding Hamonic helps with this heavily. Dhaliwahl also tweeted today Canucks have talked to Sami Vatanens camp, he'd be fine as well but the Canucks need a more physical penalty killer type to fill Tanevs role.
2. Young players on the taxi squad not developing.
Id be reluctant to put the likes of Rathbone and Dipietro there not seeing game action and getting their reps in the AHL. I believe it would be best for them to go and play big minutes vs not seeing gametime and only working with skills coaches 24/7. The other option is Silovs. Have him working with Ian Clark and purely be a spot holder.
3. Hoglander or Sven Baertschi. Or both?
I think there is a potential roster spot for one of these two players. Bringing Hoglander over to quarantine and attend camp is a big deal, especially when the likes of players like Philip Broberg have been asked to just play out there seasons in Europe. The Canucks want this kid in the lineup IMO if theyre going though the trouble of bringing him over. At this point either Sven needs to play unbelieveable or Hoglander needs to really underwhelm for him to be sent back to Europe. If Sven does make the opening lineup Louie takes Nils spot.
